Goals & Impact

Project aim

The present project aims to develop a methodology, supported by analytical models and automated through a software platform, to examine the interactions between levels of knowledge about dementia, lifestyle, personal prevention, and the prevalence of risk factors in Bulgaria. Within the framework of the project, the first national survey on public awareness of dementia will be conducted, and the prevalence of risk behaviors and risk factors among the Bulgarian population will be examined.

Activities

  • Analysis of the subject area and formulation of a research problem
  • Development of a methodology and an accompanying platform for studying the prevalence of risk behaviors and risk factors
  • Development of analytical models for assessing the prevalence of risk behaviors and risk factors

The main scientific contribution of the project is the creation of a comprehensive methodology and an accompanying platform for transferring new knowledge in the field of public awareness of dementia. The data collected within the project and the developed analytical models will provide the first objective picture of health literacy in Bulgarian society and the distribution of risk factors for the development of dementia among different social groups. In addition, the results of the analyses will show the level of awareness in Bulgaria compared to that in other countries. The proposed methodology for public research on issues related to dementia will be reusable both for long-term research on the topic and for monitoring the effects of health information campaigns.
