Goals & Impact

Aim

The overall objective of the project CyberTwin: Reinforcing the Scientific Excellence and Innovation Capacity in Cyber Security through Twinning, is to boost the scientific excellence and innovation capacity and to increase the international visibility of the State University of Library Studies and Information Technology (SULSIT) and its Bulgarian partners – Sofia University (Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics) and Bulgarian Defence Institute “Professor Tsvetan Lazarov” (BDI), in the area of Cyber Security by networking and twinning with two internationally-leading research institutions – KU Leuven (KUL) and Fondazione Politecnico di Milano (FPM).

Research

The project will concentrate its activities mostly in the research area of Protection of Digital Information which is the main area of research of the Computer Security and Industrial Cryptography (Imec-Cosic) group at KUL. The targeted application areas are advanced cybersecurity solutions to protect data in the cloud and in the Internet of Things (IoT) and protection of the privacy of users in the context of different use-cases for smart city applications, which is the strongest area of the capacity of the University Cluster “Safety, Security, Defence, Disaster Recovery and Management” at FPM.
