Keith Peter Kiely,  Experienced researcher at GATE, was elected as a Member of the European Digital Media Observatory Executive Board from the quota of the hub representatives. Keith was elected in his capacity of a Scientific Coordinator of BRODhub (led by GATE Institute) for creation of a multinational, multi-stakeholder, and multidisciplinary regional hub for detecting, analysing and combating disinformation circulating in Bulgaria and Romania.

  The first Energy Atlas of Sofia, created by the GATE Institute with lead researcher Dr. Eng. Lidiya Vitanova, combines approaches from geographic information systems (GIS) and statistical methods for assessing energy consumption in buildings with different purposes.

  The first AEC Hackathon in Eastern Europe, which took place in Sofia, ended with success. It was hosted by GATE Institute together with the organizers of the biggest hackathon in this field – AEC Hackathon (Architecture, Engineering and Construction Hackathon).

The director of GATE Prof. Sylvia Ilieva is among the founders of the Society of the Future – a community of leaders – innovators, with a vision for tomorrow. Part of the funds from the organization’s first event go to the Association of Olympic Science Teams.

Prime Minister Acad. Nikolay Denkov and Deputy Prime Minister Maria Gabriel opened the new high-tech building of GATE – the first institute in Bulgaria and South-Eastern Europe in the field of big data and artificial intelligence. They also started the forum “Up to GATE. Technology, Big Data & Beyond. Open Up for Innovation”.

How can we improve the healthcare sector through efficient data utilzation? This will be the main topic of discussion during the dedicated panel session “The data & innovation power for long-life healthy living”, part of our forum „Up to Gate: Technology, Big Data & Beyond. Open Up for Innovation”, which will mark the grand opening of the Institute’s new building.
