GATE showcases scientific results at the Researchers’ Night

This year, GATE Institute participates again in the “European Researchers’ Night” – the event that reveals the human face of science and shows in a user-friendly manner how scientific achievements change people’s lives. GATE and its role in science diplomacy

“Bulgarian approaches and perspectives in scientce diplomacy” – this was the topic of the speech of the director of the GATE Institute, Prof. Silvia Ilieva, before the international conference dedicated to science diplomacy. The event was organized by the Diplomatic Institute on the occasion of its 20th anniversary and took place on September 26, 2023 at the House of Europe in Sofia.

There was a lot of interest in GATE’s participation in this year’s edition of the event meeting ideas, people and companies “Tuk-Tam Hive 2023”. It was held on September 19 at the Inter Expo Center in Sofia.

For a fourth consecutive year, GATE Institute will be part of the meeting of ideas, people and companies at Tuk-Tam Hive 2023. The event will take place on September 19 at the Inter Expo Centre in Sofia.

GATE researchers analyse shortcomings in online platforms’ actions against disinformation

Researchers from the GATE Institute have produced a research paper using responses to the European Commission’s Strengthened Code of Practice on Disinformation (CoP) published by Google, Meta, Microsoft, TikTok and Twitter, in January 2023. This is the first analysis for Bulgaria of the implementation of commitments under the Strengthened Code of Practice on Disinformation of Very Large Online Platforms (VLOP’s) & Very Large Online Search Engines (VLOSE). It is produced in the framework of the BROD project (for establishment of a Bulgarian-Romanian Observatory for Digital Media) coordinated by GATE. In it, the researchers warn about European elections 2024.
