GATE Institute welcomes its new interns

Seventeen young talents have joined the GATE team to develop their knowledge and skills in the field of big data and artificial intelligence in the coming months. Under the guidance of experienced mentors, they will work in the Institute’s application areas of “Future Cities”  and “Disinformation Detection and Research”, as well as on the GATE Big data platform.  

GATE Institute will train Bulgaria’s first masters in “Big Data Technologies”

Institute “Big data for smart society” (GATE) in partnership with the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics of Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” will accept the first students who will study in the new master’s program “Big Data Technologies”. It starts at the beginning of the new academic year. It is aimed at training specialists in the field of big data and artificial intelligence, who can be realized in professions of the future, where technologies support the creation of innovative services and products in areas such as health care, transport, economy, finance.

GATE participatеd in the national forum “Data in the Public Sector”

A national training forum on “Data in the public sector” was held in Pazardzhik on 21 -23 June 2023. It was organized by the Institute of Public Administration and funded under the Operational Programme “Good Governance”. The forum was attended by more than 40 representatives of the public administration. The discussions included topics such as data policies, data protection and practical applications of artificial intelligence trained on large language models.

GATE heads a hub to drive innovations in South-East Europe’s Smart Healthcare Sector

GATE Institute is the coordinator of the new EU funded project VELES, which strives to elevate the level of innovation excellence in South-East Europe by establishing a sustainable place-based innovation ecosystem, enabled by the Regional Smart Health Data Space. It aims to leverage cutting-edge technologies such as Big Data, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and the Internet of Things (IoT) to enable personalized medicine, informed decision-making, and enhanced disease prediction.

The concept of the city digital twin presented at Green Transition 2023

The Director of GATE Institute, Prof. Silvia Ilieva, was among the panelists of the Green Transition 2023 forum, held on 20 – 22 June in Sofia. She presented the work of the Institute on Future Cities.

GATE is part of the Programme Committee of an International workshop

Prof. Desislava Petrova-Antonova, Research lead at GATE Institute, is part of the Programme Committee of the 1st International workshop on Dataspaces for Digital Twins of Cities Critical Infrastructures (DS4DTCCI).
