The research workshop “Urban Digital Twins: data models, use cases and applications”, organised in collaboration by GATE Institute, Digital Twin Cities Centre, Sweden and University of Salerno, Italy, took place on 7-9 June 2023, in Gothenburg, Sweden.

The Institute „Big Data for Smart Society“ (GATE) and NATO’s Crisis Management and Disaster Response Centre of Excellence (CMDR CoE) signed a Framework Collaboration Agreement to strengthen their partnership to promote, facilitate, and cooperate in the fields of emergency and crisis management, resilience, disaster response and security and defence innovation.  

Reliable artificial intelligence can bring many benefits, such as better healthcare, safer and cleaner transportation, more efficient manufacturing, cheaper and sustainable energy. It helps find solutions to a range of societal problems by using the latest generation of technology applied to a wide range of data in ways that improve the quality of life.

The Annual Meeting on Quality Management in the Public Administration in Bulgaria was held from May 17 to 19, 2023, in the Regnum Hotel, Bansko. More than 100 representatives of central, regional and local authorities took part in the event – senior officials from ministries, state and executive agencies, regional administrations, municipalities and others.

The GATE Institute’s team, involved in disinformation research, visited Chalmers University of Technology from 15 to 17 May 2023, to discuss the ongoing work in this field for both academic institutions.

The GATE’s stand at the Career Forum of the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics, Sofia University, attracted over 100 visitors. Throughout the day of May 11, 2023, groups of students surrounded the Institute’s team and listened with interest to information about its activities and internship programme. GATE researchers talked about the projects they are working on and shared their career development experiences.
